This chapel houses a magnificent stucco altarpiece and Carrara marble altar dating from 1838.
Built around 1400 on the site of a former convent of Cordeliers monks given by Louis IX (aka Saint Louis) to the inhabitants of Aigues-Mortes in 1248, the chapel houses a magnificent stucco altarpiece and Carrara marble altar dating from 1838. These Cordeliers monks were behind the creation of the Confrérie des Pénitents Gris. After almost a year of restoration work, the chapel is once again open to visitors!

A fuire le prêtre à un comportement à vomir en évoquant des théories farfelu d’extrême droite je ne savais pas qu’il y avais ce genre de secte dans l’église… si vous n’avez pas l’apparence d’un français bien blanc ils vous refusent l’entrée, ils déshonorent la France et l’église…

Il est important de noter qu'il ne s'agit pas d'un lieu saint, mais plutôt d'un endroit géré par un particulier malhonnête qui cherche à extorquer de l'argent aux visiteurs. Je recommande vivement de faire attention à cet individu malintentionné qui semble vouloir profiter des gens de manière déplorable. Cela a malheureusement terni mon expérience de cette visite !
