LE DOLMEN DES FADES
Imposing dolmen lined with pine trees and covered with a 25-30 ton limestone slab located at the top of a mound not far from the D168 road
This imposing dolmen, surrounded by pine trees, sits atop a hill near the D168, on the border between the Aude and Hérault departments. Built some 3,000 years ago, conservation work has preserved its authenticity. The 35-metre-long, 2.50-metre-high tumulus is covered by a limestone slab weighing between 25 and 30 tonnes, and contains a 24-metre-long corridor. This megalithic tomb is classified as the largest in southern France. You'll be amazed and amazed at man's ability to move such large stones.
