Les Maîtres de mon Moulin is more than just a bakery. Going up to Cucugnan and tasting bread is a journey that transforms you, and not just for your taste buds. Here, ethics and quality are at the forefront, with the aim of offering flours and breads that are good for both our health and that of the planet. The wheat used is organic, made exclusively from seeds of ancient varieties, and the whole process is stone-ground. A perfect alliance between tradition, health and taste.

The weather was terrible. Rain squalls, strong winds and a temperature of 10 C. Parking in the lot below town, I donned my rain coat and rapidly walked the 400 meters to the bakery. What a delightful experience! As a baker myself (I bake all my bread at home), I had wonderful 1/2 hour conversation with the proprietor (I am reasonably fluent in French). One of those experiences that underscores the benefits of travel.

I bought a loaf of rouge de Bourdeaux, kamut pasta, some cookies, and the first book written about the proprietor. There is no indoor seating, so on a day like this, I enjoyed my coffee standing up. Definitely worth the trip!
