The Museum of the Arts features a collection of paintings related to the country's antiquity and history, as well as classical collections.

In 1845, the Société des Arts et Sciences presented the town of Carcassonne with a collection of 102 paintings relating to local history and antiquity. Housed in the former presidial building, at the junction of the old and new towns, the museum was subsequently enriched by deposits from the Musée du Louvre and donations from local collectors and artists. The Musée des Beaux-Arts, both discreet and impressive, combines classical and modern permanent collections, Western paintings, tapestries, archaeological remains and occasional contemporary exhibitions.

La visite du musée est gratuite. La collection est faite d'oeuvres plutôt locales. La visite n'est pas très longues et vaut un petit détour.

Intéressant musée que nous avons visité spécialement pour une exposition temporaire regroupant les oeuvres d'art contemporain d'un collectionneur.

La devanture côté Square Gambetta est superbe...Et à l'intérieur les collections sont bien fournies : ce musée manque d'ailleurs de place !

Difficult parking. Average museum in all: outdated surroundings, collections of a less interesting. The many exhibitions are often interesting and original and the museum is very dynamic in terms of education to students.
I prefer however the original and cocoon-like atmosphere around 1900 Museum PETIET of Limoux, warm with its collections certainly less rich, stayed ".
