What makes Provins so special is its double underground system
The particularity of Provins is to have its double underground. Each important building of the citadel extends underground with a quarry, a lower room, a crypt connected to the others by underground passages. This second city - more than a hundred rooms listed in the Upper City and several dozen in the Lower City - was built from quarries extracting "fuller's earth" which was used to degrease and clean the high-quality woollen cloth made in Provins. Not to be missed during your visit to Provins!

Visite très intéressante des souterrains de Provins à faire en premier dans la cadre du pass visite de la ville. Cette visite donne de très bonnes explications sur l'histoire de la Ville, sa morphologie, son architecture et une nouvelle vision de la Ville depuis l'extérieur. Je recommande !
