Church of flamboyant Gothic style, located in Melun, dedicated to Saint Aspais, and classified as a historical monument
Built between 1515 and 1555 to designs by architect Jehan de Félin, the church is in the flamboyant Gothic style. Dedicated to Saint Aspais, Melun's first apostle, who lived in the late5th or early 6th century, the church has had many fortunes. Burned and pillaged, it became the temple of the goddess Reason during the French Revolution. Bombed in August 1944, the spire of the bell tower was destroyed and the fire melted the bells. Restored over many years, the church has been listed as a Monument Historique since February 21, 1914.
