The Abbey of Jouarre, where a community of Benedictine nuns welcomes individuals for religious retreats
Founded by Adon around 630, under the reign of Dagobert, this abbey was one of the first in France to follow in the footsteps of Saint Colomban, founder of Luxeuil Abbey. At that time, a community of Benedictine nuns was established here. Today, more than forty nuns still welcome spiritual retreat seekers. The community opens part of its site to share with visitors a piece of its history and life.
