A hotel rich in beauty and history, with fifteen auction rooms for furniture and everyday objects.

Hôtel Drouot, the temple of auctions, was inaugurated in 1852. It is the world's oldest public auction house. Admission to any of the 15 auction rooms is free. Ultimately, you only pay if you participate by becoming a buyer yourself. You can do this on site, of course, but you can also participate via the "Drouot" website. For your information, there is a structure - Drouot Estimations - which carries out verbal estimates of goods free of charge.

Such a scam. We had placed an online bid for 1,000 euros. When the auction was over, we noticed the bidding had closed at 1,000. We thought the piece was ours. Upon giving Drouot a phone call, they told us our bid was only for 900 euros and the piece had gone to someone who had placed a bid of 1,000. When we showed them the proof of our 1,000 bid, they came up with a bunch of nonsense. First they told us "the buyer placed a bid in the room", after which they told us "the buyer placed an online bid a bit before us". When we told them neither of those are even possible, they simply hung up.
Again, such a scam. One of those big names who think they can get away with anything.

An off-the-beaten-path experience. You can see auction items before the auction (like a museum with ever-changing exhibits but more fascinating because they will be sold) and also experience live auctions. Worth a visit! Free. Just walk in and you're bound to see something.
