There is a tunnel under the traffic circle- PLEASE DON'T TRY TO CROSS THE STREET; IT'S NOT SAFE. But do take the tunnel. The monument is beautiful and moving. The perpetual flame is inscribed with a very fitting tribute.

It’s much bigger in person as a monument—nothing like what you see in the photos! You definitely have to go! That’s also where you’ll start your walk down the most famous (and also expensive ????) street.

Ο Αψίδα του Θριάμβου (Arc de Triomphe) είναι ένα αξιοθέατο στο Παρίσι, Γαλλία, που λειτουργεί ως σύμβολο της Γαλλικής εθνικής τιμής και νίκης. Βρίσκεται στην πλατεία Charles de Gaulle, προηγουμένως γνωστή ως πλατεία Σταρλέτον, στον άξονα που συνδέει το Λούβρο με το Παρίσι.

Η κατασκευή της Αψίδας του Θριάμβου ξεκίνησε το 1806 κατόπιν εντολής του Ναπολέοντα, αλλά ολοκληρώθηκε μετά τον θάνατό του το 1836. Σχεδιάστηκε από τον αρχιτέκτονα Jean Chalgrin και αποτελεί ένα από τα μεγαλύτερα τρίαμπος του κόσμου.

Η Αψίδα του Θριάμβου διακρίνεται για την εντυπωσιακή της αρχιτεκτονική και την κοσμοπολίτικη αίσθηση που προσφέρει. Το επάνω μέρος της αψίδας φιλοξενεί τον Τάφο του Άγνωστου Στρατιώτη, ενώ από την κορυφή της προσφέρεται μια εκπληκτική πανοραμική θέα του Παρισιού.
