A museum retracing Charles de Gaulle's career through multimedia installations featuring archive images.
Inside the Musée de l'Armée at Les Invalides, you'll find the historial dedicated to Charles de Gaulle. A hero of Free France during the Second World War and a founding father of theFifth Republic, de Gaulle has left such an indelible mark on the minds of generations that it's impossible to understand the evolution of French political life without knowing what the figure of the General, considered by many to be a guiding light, represented.
Requested by the Charles de Gaulle Foundation and its president, the Historial retraces the career of this extraordinary statesman through a fully interactive audiovisual system. The museography consists of a central room, featuring archive footage, and a circular tour recalling the contemporary events that marked the history of Gaullism. Three rooms called "doors" are devoted to key periods in Charles de Gaulle's life: his childhood and military career, which began during the First World War, culminate in the June 18 Appeal, the founding act of the de Gaulle myth; the Historial then looks back at Free France, his role as head of the provisional government and his disappearance from the French political scene, what he himself called "la traversée du désert"; finally, we discover how de Gaulle created theFifth Republic, as well as the two terms he spent as head of state, from the Trente Glorieuses to the events of May 1968.

Au centre vous pouvez retrouver un petit documentaire d'une vingtaine de minutes retraçant la vie du Général.
Ce que je trouve dommage cependant est la "politisation" du musée, qui semble plutôt être un éloge envers le Général qu'un musée informatif, et je pense tout particulièrement au film (qui d'ailleurs est réalisé par la Fondation de Gaulle) qui me semble bien tourné politiquement. C'est peut-être une impression mais je trouve ça dommage.
L'accueil du l'historial est agréable. Les audioguides sont néanmoins assez moyens, qui buguent parfois.
Je recommande malgré ce dernier point l'historial, mais venez en l'idée que ce peut-être tourné politiquement.
