Fountain built in 1860, occupying the entire facade of a building in Paris
The Saint-Michel fountain was designed by Gabriel Davioud and built in 1860 during the great Haussmannian works. It occupies the entire facade of a building (26 meters high and 15 meters wide). Its ornamentation consists of a statue by Francisque Duret representing Saint Michel slaying the dragon, bronzes symbolizing four cardinal virtues (Strength, Temperance, Justice and Prudence) and two dragons spouting water jets. Today, many people stay a while to admire this unique fountain.

Superbe, grandiloquente, mais mal située, dans le brouhaha d'un carrefour important tant pour les véhicules que pour les piétons ! Difficile de la contempler à tête reposée !
