In the 19th century, a wealthy art lover moved his collection of ancient art into the former residence of the abbots of Cluny. On his death, the State transformed the hotel into a museum, along with the nearby sculpture depository. Many years of renovation work were finally completed two years ago. Closed January 1, May 1 and December 25. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 9:30 am to 6:15 pm. Ticket office closes at 5:30pm. Evacuation of rooms begins at 5:45pm. Free admission for children under 18. Guided tour. Gift store. Entertainment.

The Musée de Cluny, or Musée National du Moyen Âge, is located in the Latin Quarter of Paris. This cultural establishment invites you to a unique immersion in the history and art of the Middle Ages. Dedicated to the preservation and promotion of medieval art, the museum covers a period from the end of Antiquity to the beginning of the Renaissance. Among the masterpieces on display is the famous series of tapestries entitled La Dame à la licorne, one of the museum's most emblematic treasures. These six tapestries, created at the end of the 15th century, illustrate the five senses and a sixth enigmatic panel entitled "my only desire", which illustrates a symbolic and refined vision of medieval aesthetics. The museum also features major architectural elements, such as the remains of the ancient thermal baths, evidence of the Roman occupation of Paris, and the Hôtel de Cluny, a Gothic building that once belonged to the abbots of Cluny.
