In the 19th century, a wealthy art lover moved his collection of ancient art into the former residence of the abbots of Cluny. On his death, the State transformed the hotel into a museum, along with the nearby sculpture depository. Many years of renovation work were finally completed two years ago. The Musée de Cluny, or Musée National du Moyen Âge, is located in the Latin Quarter of Paris. This cultural establishment invites you to a unique immersion in the history and art of the Middle Ages. The museum also features major architectural elements, such as the remains of the ancient thermal baths, evidence of the Roman occupation of Paris, and the Hôtel de Cluny, a Gothic building that once belonged to the abbots of Cluny.
