If you pass the doors of the Jardin des Plantes, by the entrance of the Cuvier street, you will immediately fall on the statue of Bernardin de Saint-Pierre, supported by a representation of Paul and Virginia. Carved in 1907 by Louis Holweck, she represents the two heroes of the eponymous novel, written by Bernadin de Saint-Pierre in 1787, accompanied by their dog. The novel tells a slave's adventure, Domingue, and his dog who will save Paul and Virginia, lost in the woods.
