Museum created in 1902, with a permanent exhibition built around the major events in Victor Hugo's life

It is in an apartment located on the second floor of the Hotel de Rohan-Guéménée that Victor Hugo lived from 1832 to 1848. The museum was created in 1902, the centenary of the writer's birth. The permanent exhibition is built around the major fact of his life: his exile. Although he only lived in this apartment for 16 years, the museum's collection is impressive: first editions, paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs, caricatures... Temporary exhibitions regularly present the life and work of the great writer.

Currently entry to the house is free of charge. A bargain if ever there was one. An interesting venue and certainly worth seeing. The surrounding area is also beautiful and a joy to walk through.
