Designed by architect Le Vau in 1640 for a businessman named Lambert, this special hotel was beautifully decorated by the painters Le Brun and Le Sueur - including a gallery of Hercules which is a draft of the Ice gallery of the Château de Versailles. In particular, he belonged to the Polish princes Czartoryski and then to the Rothschild family. He was also inhabited by actress Michèle Morgan. In 2007, the hotel was sold to a brother of the Emir of Qatar. He quickly hires a team to restore the hotel by modernizing it. The project gives rise to a strong reaction from the heritage advocates of the capital who try to prevent its implementation. An agreement was finally reached and the site is currently in work. While the work will normally be completed by the end of 2012, we will have to wait another two years for the completion of the internal work.
