BIBLIOTHÈQUE FORNEY
You are here in the Hôtel de Sens, built in the 15th century for the Archbishop of Sens, on whom the churches of Paris depended. Queen Margot stayed there for a while. Founded in 1886, the library, now a municipal library, was intended for the education of craftsmen. You can borrow 8 books, 8 magazines and up to 5 DVDs for 3 weeks (extension possible) and consult rare documents and books. The collections are dedicated to the decorative arts, crafts and their techniques, fine arts and graphic arts. They bring together:
230,000 volumes (ornaments, technical manuals and catalogues raisonnés).
45,000 catalogues of temporary exhibitions and museums.
25,000 catalogues of art auctions from 1800 to 1983.
tens of thousands of various documents (periodicals, iconography, samples of wallpapers and printed canvases, postcards and popular images).
Exhibitions dedicated to the enhancement of the library's collections and the promotion of crafts are regularly organized.
