This is one of the most dynamic addresses in Parisian public theater. Just a stone's throw from Place Gambetta, a high glass façade opens onto two auditoriums - one seating 780 and the other 184 - set in an environment reminiscent of an ocean liner, with its gangways and walkways. From contemporary creations to dance, the program is renowned for its quality.

3/5
1 review

There are three rooms at this address: XXL - 345 seats -, XL - 96 seats - and Le Lab - 90 seats - as well as rehearsal studios. Various companies present their shows. The history of the Ménilmontant theatre dates back to 1877 when two halls in the area are successively open for Saint Peter's patronage and the Salésiens fathers. There are numerous performances of children, teenagers and adults. Then there are "Passions", "Mysteries", "Mystères" sessions and "light projections", patriotic pieces, comedy, drama, lyrical performances, operettas… The current address was inaugurated in 1929. A former mentor, actor Georges Chamarat, is assembling pieces. In 1932, Passion was created in Ménilmontant, a show played by residents of the neighborhood who enjoyed a long success. In 1958, before founding the Théâtre de l'Est Paris, Guy Rétoré and his Guild settled in this theatre to which they gave their name today. The NPT of Jean Vilar also plays there. From the 1970 s, the Théâtre theatre opened to the song: Félix Leclerc, Graeme Allwright, Mouloudji… In 1979, a Théâtre Theatre Workshop was launched. And the adventure still continues today. This place must have grace!

LE TARMAC

Theater

The Tarmac was named International French-language theatre - Tilf - between its creation in 1985 and 2005, when it changed its name as executive. Valérie Baran succeeded Gabriel Garran. The latter's founding idea remains in force: present all forms of Francophone theatrical scriptures regardless of their geographical origins. Initially, the Tilf is nomadic. It occurs in various places - Pompidou Centre, National Chaillot Theatre, MC 93, storm theatre, Bouffes du Nord - and in national and international festivals. In 1993, it was recognised as a national interest and settled in the park of La Villette at the Pavillon du Charolais, a former bar of the cattle market in the theatre of one hundred and sixty squares. The Tarmac program is rich in surprises. This is where Maïmouna Gueye discovered in Bambi, she is black, but she is beautiful, provided a great success, as well as A Love Supreme, show jazz-theatre of Luc Clémentin according to the new of Emmanuel Dongala. Since the summer of 2011, the Tarmac has set sail and left La Villette. Direction Gambetta Avenue where the building then occupied by the Théâtre de l'Est Paris becomes its new house. More spacious, the room welcomes all French-speaking talents with passion.
