Chapel worth a visit, rebuilt stone by stone with the addition of a lower church and basement rooms
We pass by it without paying much attention, but this Notre-Dame de Compassion chapel is well worth a look. This is not its original location: the construction of the Palais des Congrès meant that it had to be moved 150 metres, but it was rebuilt stone by stone, with the addition of a lower church and basement rooms. The chapel, which became a parish in 1993, was originally built where Louis-Philippe's eldest son died in an accident in 1842. Its decoration was entrusted to artists close to the d'Orléans family, such as Ingres.
