Housed in the Palais de Chaillot (Paris wing), the Cité de l'architecture & du patrimoine offers a breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower. Above all, it is the world's largest space (over 22,000m2) devoted to architecture and urban planning. Combining museum, library, auditorium and school, with a specialized bookshop and restaurant (Girafe), the site offers a tour of France's finest buildings and constructions from the Middle Ages to the present day.

Opening time and information on CITÉ DE L'ARCHITECTURE ET DU PATRIMOINE
Closed on January 1st, May 1st, July 14th and December 25th. Open Wednesday to Monday, 11am to 7pm. Nocturne Thursdays until 9pm. Free admission for children under 26 (and for all on every 1st Sunday of the month). Museum + exhibition ticket: 13€. Cheques not accepted. Vacation vouchers. Guided tour. Restaurant. Store. The Cité de l'architecture et du patrimoine is the only institution in the world dedicated to contemporary architecture and heritage. It brings together a museum, a school, a center for contemporary architecture, a library and an archive.
The museum is one of the oldest institutions dedicated to architecture and heritage. At 8,000 square meters, it is also the largest museum of monumental art in existence. The sculpture, mural and stained-glass rooms showcase architecture and monumental art, while the contemporary collections illustrate how our built environment has been created and evolved over the last century and a half.

We bought tickets for the permanent and temporary exhibitions, but when we went to the temporary rooms downstairs at 18:30 (closing is at 19:00), the Metro exhibition was already closed.
We entered the other exhibition that was still open, but a security guard stormed after us yelling that we had to leave. When I showed him my tickets he kept shouting that the person who could scan them had already left and that the exhibition was closed.
There were still plenty of others in the room trying to go about their visits. This was a very embarrassing experience infront of them and there was no need for the guard to be so loud while I was standing next to him.
I really wanted to see the Metro exhibition, but I won't be coming back.
