If the walk has always existed, it is not the same for hiking. This term began with the creation of a large national network of marked trails from 1946. Until then, walkers and hikers had to have a compass and cards so that they wouldn't lose. It was Jean Loiseau, passionate about nature, who had the idea of creating "the big walker's roads". In 1947, the National Trails Committee (CNSGR) was established and the first section of the GR® 3 from Orleans to Beaugency was opened for 28 km. The story was on the way. However, we will have to wait until 1978 for hikers to be represented with the creation of the French Hiking Federation. It defines the standards of this sport and maintains a network of 180 000 km of marked trails. It is represented by 116 regional and departmental committees and brings together 3 450 local associations or clubs.

It was around 1880, during an evening drunk among British notables, that table tennis was born with a champagne cap as ball and cigar boxes as snowshoes. This sport took a more official turn with 1885-year-old equipment and was patented by James Devonshire. Since 1927, FFTT has established its practice by grouping sports associations. She also organizes national competitions and represents French table tennis abroad. The federation registers more than 190 000 licensees and relies on a network of 27 regional leagues and 96 departmental committees comprising 3 580 clubs.
