ÉCOLE DE CHIENS GUIDES POUR AVEUGLES ET MALVOYANTS DE PARIS ET RÉGION PARISIENNE

Éducateur animalier

You can propose your family to become "foster family" for this association, which trains dozens of dogs each year to accompany visually deficient people. Before being mature enough to follow their training, small labradors, German shepherds or golden Retriever need a host family. She is responsible for sociabiliser the puppy from 8 weeks to 1 year. The family of guardianship must be ready to take it everywhere with it to familiarise it with all sorts of situations. Not to mention the basic rules of courtesy or obedience, which must be values to the letter - do not go to the rooms, give the foot, report, etc. The puppy then integrates the school where, for six months, he learns to avoid obstacles, to look for pedestrian passages, to mark a stop on the edge of the sidewalk, to climb and descend the stairs… The family maintains contact with the school who informs him of all the progress of the dog and invites him to meet the blind person to whom he is intended. Welcoming and creating a young puppy is thus completely free. The food and veterinary costs are borne by the association. However, the selection criteria are precise and relatively strict: availability is the first criterion - habitat also counts. You can take a puppy in the apartment, provided you have a lift, the stairs being contrary to its natural walking. Note: every year, some puppies do not finish learning and will not be guides. It is therefore possible to adopt one of them.
