The Club de la Montagne-Sainte-Geneviève, as it's known, is one of the oldest martial arts clubs in Europe. It is located in the Latin Quarter, behind a patinated wooden gate, in a charming cobbled courtyard, in a setting classified as a historic monument. Master Henry Plée founded the dojo in 1953. A pioneer of karate in Europe, Maître Plée (10th dan) brought in several Japanese and Chinese experts. Since its creation, the club has won numerous French, European and world championships. Pascal Plée, eldest son of Maître Henry Plée, took up the torch after his father. He has been practicing martial arts since the age of 5, starting with judo and then karate at the age of 8. Fascinated by traditional Japanese and Chinese martial arts, he now teaches karate-do(shotokan and Okinawan), kung fu (Crane and Long Point), qin na (Chinese dislocations), taijiquan, tuishou (hand thrusts) and qi gong (health exercises).
J'ai poussé la porte du dojo il y a quinze ans, avec un petit bagage technique niveau marron en karate fédéral (très sportif, nerveux et sautillant - aspects complètement exlus de l'enseignement de Pascal Plée), et j'y ai rencontré un professeur humble qui m'a permis de trouver ce que je cherchais dans les arts martiaux : une méthode d'entraînement applicable tout au long de la vie, du réalisme et une nouvelle vision de ce que recèlent les katas. J'ai également pu m'initier à certains arts chinois (très enrichissant pour faire évoluer son karaté).
Je recommande sincèrement à tous les pratiquants, quel que soit le style et le niveau, de tenter l'expérience.
