DOJO ZEN DE PARIS
This dojo, well known to Zen followers, is located in an old warehouse which houses the headquarters of the International Zen Association, a store where you will find many books and objects related to Zen as well as high quality Japanese incense, and the Dojo itself, a bare room where zazen meditation is practiced. Established in 1971 by Master Taisen Deshimaru, the Paris Zen Dojo teaches the practice of Zen meditation in the pure tradition. As soon as you enter the Dojo, the smell of incense invites you to meditate. One leaves one's shoes on and enters the zendo with the left foot in order to introduce the heart first, one sits on a cushion, the zafu, legs crossed and eyes half closed. Lezazen, this posture of the Buddha's awakening, is practiced in sessions of about one hour, interspersed with a period of meditation in movement, the kinhin walk. The introduction to the practice takes place every Saturday at 4 pm, followed by a zazen session at 5 pm.
