Glassolutions is a subsidiary of the Saint-Gobain group, dedicated to the transformation of glass for the home. It is the leading player on the glass market, and has obtained the Origine France Garantie certification for its insulating glass units for industrial joinery.

History. It all began in 1665. Louis XIV founded the Royal Manufacture of Mirror Mirrors at the instigation of his Minister Colbert. She is the one who will create the mirrors for the gallery at the Château de Versailles. The manufactory then merged with its competitor, the Compagnie Thévart, based in Saint-Gobain, in 1695. That's where the group got its name from.

In 1702, the Royal Manufacture was saved from bankruptcy by the Dagincourt Company and entered a period of great prosperity. In 1758, Pierre Deslandes, the new director, considerably modernized the establishment.

In 1830, the Royal Manufacture became a public limited company and carried out its first mechanisation tests and developed industrial chemistry to develop ice cream production. In 1858, Saint-Gobain merged with Saint-Quirin while establishing itself in Germany. The new company represents a quarter of European ice cream production.

From 1918, Saint-Gobain played a pioneering role in the modernization of the hollow glass sector (jars and bottles). It created the Société d'étude verrière appliquée (SEVA) to manufacture the furnaces and machines necessary for glass factories, which was set up in 1930 at its current site in Chalon-sur-Saône.

In 1952, the Centre de recherches de la Villette in Paris embodied the new impetus given to R&D after the Second World War in Saint-Gobain. In 1970, the company merged with the Pont-à-Mousson group to form the Saint-Gobain-Pont-à-Mousson group. It was privatized by François Mitterrand in 1982. The group is now present in 64 countries.

The products. Shower walls, self-cleaning glass, double glazing with reinforced thermal insulation...
