The Great Mosque of Évry-Courcouronnes is regarded as the largest in France and also as one of the largest in Europe with those of Rome and London. Inaugurated in 1994, it is the work of architect Henry Baudot. With a total capacity of about five thousand people, the mosque is open to both men and women. The Islamic Cultural Centre regularly organizes conferences as well as Arabic courses on Thursdays for beginners.
