Museum offering a guided tour and demonstration of original lapidary tools and techniques

Here, explanations and demonstrations are fascinating, and we enter a totally unsuspected world: that of gemstone cutting. In the ^18th century, local people began cutting rubies for Swiss watchmakers to supplement their income as farmers during the winters. The guided tour recounts the eventful history of this activity. A demonstration shows the original tools and techniques. A video featuring testimonials from former lapidary craftsmen provides further details of this expertise.

Opening time and information on THE MUSEUM OF LAPIDARY

Open all year round. Closed January 1, April, May 1, August 15 and from October 1 to December 19, December 25. Low season: Sunday to Friday, 2pm to 6pm. High season: Monday to Friday, 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 6pm; Sunday, 2pm to 6pm. High season: school vacations. Free for children under 7. Adults: €5. Children (aged 7 to 16): €2.50. Group rates from 10 people. Children: €2. Adults: €4. Pass Juramussées rate €4, Pass'Malin. Children welcome. Guided tour (approx. 1h). Store.

Super musée, le film présenté à l'intérieur est un beau voyage dans le temps. Je ne regrette pas d'être venu.

Visite très instructive due à la présence d’un Lapidaire meilleur ouvrier de France, d’une personne fort sympathique à l’accueil qui a réponse à toutes les questions sur l’histoire des lapidaire et à un Musée moderne à ne surtout pas rater. À 5 euros l’entrée, ne vous privez pas de cette visite !
