Vergt, an English bastide, has long been the capital of the strawberry, and every two years in May it organises a beautiful festival to celebrate this delicious red fruit. Here the quality of the Mara des Bois and other gariguettes is guaranteed as well as that of other star varieties of the Périgord. It mobilizes the whole city and volunteers to make its huge pie to be enjoyed by a greedy crowd. It is better to book to participate in the big meal under the big top.
