Church built in the century on the outskirts of the village, with east-facing facade

This church is one of Corsica's great Baroque buildings. It was built in the mid-18th century on the outskirts of the village. Its main altar is dominated by the 16th-century altarpiece of Saint Nicolas. The church's main facade, facing east contrary to custom, features two statues in the round of Saint Nicolas and Saint Pierre. These are among the few surviving monumental 18th-century sculptures in Corsica. The door, dated 1776, is a fine example of traditional carved woodwork.
