It was in the 2nd and 3rd centuries that a large semi-subterranean complex was built on the site of the forum. Composed of three large main galleries arranged in a U-shape, each one is vaulted, supported by square pillars. Located in the heart of the ancient city, this crypto-portal was to serve as a covered forum, meeting place and commercial centre. It was originally shaped like a rectangle open on one of its long sides; it was about a hundred metres long and fifty metres wide. Only the eastern gallery remains today. This classified historical monument hosts temporary exhibitions.
