On 4 July 2015 in Bonn (Germany), the UNESCO World Heritage Committee unanimously decided to include the hillsides, houses and cellars of Champagne on the World Heritage List. It thus recognises the universal value of the Champagne wine cultural landscape and, more broadly, the entire work of production, production and dissemination of Champagne wine in the communes producing this AOC located on the 5 French departments of la Marne, the Dawn, the Aisne, the Haute-Marne and the Seine-et-Marne. This appointment is largely the result of the work of the Paysages du Champagne Association, created in 2008 to nominate UNESCO with a support committee to the prestigious members Pierre Arditi, Patrick Pepper of Soi, Michel Onfrey or Jean-Paul Kauffmann. UNESCO registration covers three sites: the oldest vineyards in the vineyard of Champagne, between Cumières and Sur-sur-Ay, the champagne houses on the hill Saint-Nicaise in Reims and along the avenue de Champagne in Epernay and the cellars and crayères.
