Church with the richest sculpted portal in Alsace

Consecrated by Pope Leo IX in 1049, this church has a sculpted portal reputed to be the richest in Alsace. Its sculptures present episodes from the Bible and the Gospels. The 48 slabs of a historical frieze from the 12th century reveal more trivial scenes of Roman life. Also to be seen: a reliquary shrine of the bones of Saint Richarde, 15th century stalls, an 11th century vaulted crypt and a 15th century Virgin and Child venerated by pilgrims.
