THE GARDENS OF CHÂLONS-EN-CHAMPAGNE
"Jards" is composed of beautiful gardens located in the city center of Châlons-en-Champagne. On the avenue du Général-Leclerc, where you can park for free, Grand Jard stretches to the canal. This garden, built in the 18th century, features a 19th century music kiosk. All generations interset along the paths lined with chestnut trees, and, in the swimming pools, children invent games while boule players and fishermen indulge in their activities with pleasure while creating some passing animations. Twice a year, the funfair setup its attractions, music and lanterns and occasionally, there are also circus tents, such as during the Festival Furies, for shows and balls. You can reach the Jard Anglais from a footbridge between the channel and the Marne for quiet walks under old chestnut trees; then continue along the towpath to the lock or in the other direction to the canal Louis XII. So, on the other side of the avenue du Général-Leclerc, you see the Petit Jard by which you can reach the city in an enchanting setting redesigned in the 18th century. Its arboretum was created in 1938.
