The commune of Saint-Estèphe is watered on the South on more than 5 kilometers by a small affluent of the Bandiat, the brook Doue whose reserve forms a water level of 17 ha, the Large pond of Saint-Estèphe. The story goes that the monks of the abbey of Badeix, established since the 12th century, did not eat meat. It is to raise fish that they dug this large pond in this region rich in water. It is one of the most remarkable places of the commune.
