DOMAINE BRAND & FILS
The ten hectares of vines of the Domaine Brand have been organically cultivated since 2001 and the harvest is traditionally carried out by hand. Yields per hectare are limited, and are often praised by native yeasts and restaurant owners or amateurs. Part of the estate is located on the terroir of the Grand Cru Engelberg, but the Kefferberg area, with its south-facing south-facing slope, clay and limestone soil and deeper grey marls, is also ideal for the vines to blossom and give their best. All the grape varieties are represented in white, red and sparkling appellations. Since 2014, Philippe Brand has been vinifying his wines in 100% natural mode, without filtration or added inputs. Very active in wine tourism, the Brand estate organises many events: tasting evenings with a themed meal, picnics at the winegrower's at Pentecost, tasting initiations, grape harvest discoveries and, in June-July, walks in the vineyard followed by a very convivial aperitif around the Saint-Michel chapel. In addition to the AOC Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer Kefferberg wines, Philippe Brand makes wines with very evocative names, taken from the calligrams of Guillaume Appollinaire (which decorate the labels): Muscat l'Oiseau et le Bouquet, Sylvaner Retenez Son Nom, Pinot Noir La Table des Rois, Crémant Brut Nature Flèche Saignante...
