You can spend two hours in the village as well as the whole day, you will be caught up in this beautiful journey through time.

The Park of Bournat presents on 8 ha scenes of the rural life and the popular history of Périgord in 1900: the school benches, the farm and the cultures, the old trades and the craftsmen (walnut oil mill, still, locomobile, limonaire, tools, horse-drawn carriages...), the toys and the feast, the objects of the daily life of then. The animations follow one another in the village: craftsmen in activity making revive ancestral trades, baked bread of country, forge, fair with rides of former days, games of former days as the game of skittles. Comedians animate the streets in period costume. This year, a workshop will present the construction of a replica of the Blériot XI, Louis Blériot's plane with which he crossed the English Channel (113 years ago this year) on July 25, 1909 in 37 minutes the 40 km separating Calais from Dover. It was his 32nd attempt!

The Parc du Bournat offers an approach rich in history and lessons. Each visitor can take the time to understand and observe the gestures, even to learn them. The craftsmen do not hesitate to patiently explain the tricks of the trade they use every day, mastery is not lost at Le Bournat. Children are taken care of in workshops of manual activities (writing with a pen, sculpture on stone, bread in the oven, glass beads). Old silent films are shown in an old tobacco drying shed while the old merry-go-rounds attract the younger ones. The Ferris wheel from the beginning of the 20th century, which was present at the Paris World Fair, offers a unique panoramic view, both by day and by night. The caterpillar, the rickshaw, the carousel add to the experience. You can take a 40-minute boat ride on the wetland canals, visit a mini-farm with goats, rabbits, ponies, cows and ducks. You can spend two hours in the village as well as the whole day... Nocturnes in high season where the lights of the lanterns stretch towards the guinguette and on the terrace of the restaurant until 23:30 with the famous hams with the string or the cooking on the braziers (manufactured in the commune). For the restoration you will have the choice, sitting or standing, more or less fast. From Paul's to the Roulotte gourmande, through Odette's rotisserie, but also at the Glacier-Patissier, the Brasserie or the P'tit Goûter. On reservation, you have the possibility of privatizing all or only one part of the Bournat to organize a family event, a seminar or a wedding.

A faire !
