THE BRIDGE CIRCUIT

The number of bridges in Montargis is difficult to estimate, as most are hidden from view by houses or walled gardens... Some of the houses on Rue Dorée, and others in the town, are built on bridges spanning underground waterways. Part of the courthouse is built on arches. Enough to justify the nickname "Venice of the Gâtinais". This sign-posted tour explains the history and characteristics of 17 of Montargis' 131 bridges.
