This autumn, the Château de Tours is showcasing a new exhibition celebrating 60 years of diplomatic exchanges between France and the People's Republic of China. Named Ombres chinoises. Sous l'œil des diplomates, brings together the work of two photographers, preserved to this day in the French Diplomatic Archives. On one side, monuments, rural landscapes and magnificent portraits from the 1930s by Hélène Hoppenot. On the other, a documentary photographic analysis by André Travert, focusing on a society in the throes of change between 1947 and 1971. In all, over 200 prints and previously unpublished documents are on public display at the Château de Tours, as part of the partnership with the Jau de Paume. For further information, click here.
