House of remembrance paying tribute to the victims. Traces the history of the Resistance, the deportations and the Liberation in Maillé

On August 25, 1944, this small village saw 124 of its then 500 inhabitants massacred by enemy armies disappear. The village was completely destroyed. Today rebuilt, Maillé remains nevertheless frozen in a 1950s decor. Its House of Remembrance, opened in 2006, is a true homage to the victims and retraces the history of the Resistance, deportations and the Liberation. However, the massacre was only recognised by the State in 2008. You can also discover exhibitions, symposiums and conferences.

Il n'en reste plus rien du village car tout a été refait et faire payer l'entrée pour voir 4 photos je trouve pas ça terrible

Un lieu que je refais pour la deuxième fois, suite à une première visite en juillet 2020. L émotion est omniprésente sur l histoire et le contexte du massacre. Pour ne jamais oublier la barbarie nazie et pour le devoir de mémoire, je recommande cette visite instructive. Audioguide disponible gratuitement.

Un endroit qu'il faut aller voir...les habitants de Maillé, victimes de la barbarie sont restées trop longtemps oubliées.
Ce lieu est très riche en documentation et extrêmement émouvant.
