The building, which has undergone very little remodeling, is an exceptional château, encircled by dry moats and tufa stone. The interior is just as majestic: vast rooms with Gothic architecture and walls adorned with Renaissance oil paintings. It's a château that marries authenticity and refinement. You can dine at the Table des Fées (locavore restaurant) or at the chef's table in the heart of the château, where he will prepare gourmet cuisine using produce from the kitchen garden. In the evenings, the château opens its doors for three Apé'Rivau events, offering musical and convivial entertainment. Le Rivau also offers guest rooms, so you can live the life of a château, combining authenticity with modern comfort. Rose festivals, equestrian jousts, pumpkin festivals... Château Rivau est un endroit très agréable, les jardins sont bien entretenus. Les pièces du château sont aménagés de façon à captiver l'attention des plus jeunes point tout y est bien mis en scène et apporte une touche ludique, sans extravagance dans les créations des artistes. Nous avons pu croiser des groupes d'enfants, probablement lors de sortie scolaire. L'équipe semble les prendre bien en main, et ils ont pu faire des robes et vêtements en adéquation avec le château. Ainsi les princes et princesses se sentaient un peu plus châtelain. Les jardins sont féeriques, et il est agréable de s'y promener, mais attention aux géants qui rodent dans la forêt... Si vous voyez leurs jambes.... Fuyez ! Nous avons pu apprendre également que le château a été victime à un moment d'un incendie. Mais les propriétaires ont le restaurer afin que on puisse tous en profiter.
Des panneaux vous expliquent l'histoire du château... Alors, n'hésitez pas à les lire.. Vous comprendrez mieux (peinture au dessus de la cheminée).
On aurait aimé avoir un peu plus d'histoires sur l'élevage des chevaux pour la chevalerie.
