The building, which has undergone very little remodeling, is an exceptional château, encircled by dry moats and tufa stone. The interior is just as majestic: vast rooms with Gothic architecture and walls adorned with Renaissance oil paintings. It's a château that marries authenticity and refinement. You can dine at the Table des Fées (locavore restaurant) or at the chef's table in the heart of the château, where he will prepare gourmet cuisine using produce from the kitchen garden. In the evenings, the château opens its doors for three Apé'Rivau events, offering musical and convivial entertainment. Le Rivau also offers guest rooms, so you can live the life of a château, combining authenticity with modern comfort. Rose festivals, equestrian jousts, pumpkin festivals... No séc. XV, o Reino da França estava em pleno conflito com os ingleses durante a Guerra dos Cem Anos. Uma de suas personagens famosas é Joana d'Arc. Depois de reconhecer o delfim em Chinon em 1427, ela viajou pela França para alcançar diversos cercos. Conhecendo a reputação dos seus corcéis, Joana d'Arc parou em Rivau e veio procurar cavalos de combate em 1429 antes de se juntar ao cerco de Orléans.
O Château du Rivau é uma fortaleza medieval e um castelo renascentista.
Fortaleza no exterior com a sua torre de menagem, o seu fosso, a sua ponte levadiça (em funcionamento) e o seu passadiço, o castelo é também um castelo de recreio. Desde a entrada – encimada pelo brasão da família Beauvau e pelo seu lema “Beauvau sans dédér” – o visitante sobe a escada em caracol onde podem ser decifrados numerosos grafites do séc. XV.
Nas vastas salas do Rivau reina um ambiente acolhedor. Tudo contribui para esta impressão: desde as monumentais lareiras góticas às paredes caiadas como podemos ver na Toscana, a sumptuosa tapeçaria de Bruxelas, até às almofadas em frente às janelas gradeadas equipadas com almofadas onde os visitantes são convidados a relaxar.
