CINÉMA LE RABELAIS

The origins of this cinema, which is now an association, date back to 1922, when the Palace Rabelais was opened, an auditorium with a balcony, built in an old barn. The first cinema session took place on October 5, 1922. The city of Chinon acquired the building in 1991 to save the cinema from closure. The cinema underwent a major renovation in 1994. Its capacity is now 240 seats and the balcony is still there! The program is varied with projections every day (5 films per week).
