Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Issoudun, considered a place of pilgrimage where many pilgrims deposit an ex-voto.
Father Jules Chevalier founded the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart in 1854 and the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart a few years later. Today, more than 5,000 religious men and women continue his work of evangelization on five continents. The basilica was built in 1859 as a rallying point for these missionaries. It features a large wooden calvary carved by Philippe Chambault. Many pilgrims come here to leave an ex-voto.
