CESAR TOWER
One of France's oldest cylindrical keeps, used as a water tower from 1930 onwards in Châtillon-sur-Indre.
Once comprising four levels and measuring 30 metres in height, this 12th-century keep is now 18 metres high. It is one of the oldest cylindrical keeps in France. It was used as a water tower from 1930 onwards.
A panoramic telescope is installed at the top of the keep, allowing you to admire the Châtillonnais countryside for miles around. The view is breathtaking. The tower still has part of its rampart (the chemise). In summer, guided tours are available (subject to guide availability).
