The New Republic is a daily newspaper that grew out of the Resistance. It was founded by Pierre Archambault and Jean Meunier. Its headquarters are in Tours. The newspaper has several local editions including one in Châteauroux which covers the department of Indre. A network of local correspondents covers the territory to provide accurate information in all the communes. The edition of Cher was discontinued in 2009. But the newspaper has one edition for the Indre-et-Loire, one for the Loir-et-Cher, one for the Vienne and one for the Deux-Sèvres. In the Indre, the editorial staff also has an office in Issoudun and one in Le Blanc.
