NOTRE-DAME-DU-PASME CHURCH
Church with an impressive bell tower where wood and gilding are intertwined in Châteauneuf-en-Thymerais.
The first thing you notice is the impressive square bell tower, with its mix of darker and lighter ochre stones, reminiscent of Spanish Moorish monuments. The astonishment continues with the Stations of the Cross, large pentagons representing the stages of Jesus' journey to crucifixion. The Pasme refers to Mary's fainting during the Passion, and there is a statue of her on the side of the Way of the Cross. The rest is a harmonious blend of wood and gilding.
