Long live US sports!

American Football. Attend a Saints game at Caesars Superdome, a very impressive 72,000-seat indoor stadium in NFL configuration. The Saints have been elevated to a city icon since they won the Superbowl in 2009, led by the expert hand of quarterback Drew Brees, and showing all of America that Hurricane Katrina had not taken its toll on the vitality of New Orleans. If you're in the area during a Saints game, don't miss the tailgating(tail meanstail and in context, it's the back of the trucks that you open to sit in) around the stadium during a game. Whether you have tickets or not, you'll enjoy a typically American atmosphere.

Basketball. The New Orleans Pelicans (formerly Hornets) play in the prestigious NBA, the national championship. A team that has never won the title but has seen in its ranks some great players like Chris Paul, Davis West, Anthony Davis or DeMarcus Cousins. During the games, atmosphere guaranteed at the Smoothie King Center!

On foot, on horseback or by canoe in the bayous and swamps

Thousands of acres of forest, cypress and swamp and only a few hiking trails give a good idea of the environment of the Mississippi Delta and Cane River Valley. By preserving the wildlife along with the flora, the early settlers' camps and villages of the Native American population are also preserved. The hiking trails and small canals are great places to take a beautiful walk, horseback ride or canoe trip. You can either enjoy a guided tour with a ranger or go on your own. Jean Lafitte National Historical Park on the West Bank of New Orleans can be a very pleasant walk, but don't forget your bug spray! You can also visit the Northshore or the Kisatchie Hills.

Don't miss the swamp or bayou tours by canoe for the more adventurous or by boat with a guide. And if you really want to be quiet to enjoy nature, choose a small boat rather than an airboat, always very noisy.

A hunting and fishing destination

Fishing. Fishing is one of the activities that locals enjoy most in Louisiana. The state's ubiquitous bodies of water make it possible to practice all kinds of fishing. The Gulf Coast is also a fisherman's delight. All year round, you can catch speckled trout, grouper, mackerel or snapper. Grand Isle State Park , which is home to the few beaches in Louisiana, is a fishing mecca. Every summer, the famous Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo is held there, a very popular fishing contest.

Hunting. Hunting is also very popular. The National Game Department is very active in making sure that hunters pay attention to ethics and behavior. As for alligator hunting, it is legal here. But it is obviously very regulated

Work on your swing

In Louisiana, golf courses are part of the landscape. Often played in private clubs in the center of housing developments, golf is widespread in the state. The Audubon Park Golf Course is one of them. Redesigned by Denis Griffiths in 2001, the course features four lagoons and is home to over 100-year-old oak trees. The TPC of Louisiana is also superb and it is on this green that the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, a stage of the PGA Tour, is held every year.
