Overlooking the main street at the central square, this is undoubtedly the best souvlaki and gyros in town. Tourists flock here on the roof terrace, but so do the locals, for the Greek sandwiches to take away and the good grilled meats. A very simple address, like any good psitopoleion, as they call the establishments dedicated to grilled meat in Greece. We come here at the beginning of the evening to have a gyros in the belly while watching the world go by, before going out for a drink in the alleys below.

The most popular place in town, and not only among tourists, with only a few tables on the terrace (opposite Skyros Travel). In this small typical Greek tavern, you will taste a good traditional cuisine, sitting under a charming mulberry tree. The place is especially known for its lamb chops (among other grilled meats), its delicious grilled fish or its kid with lemon. But vegetarians will be delighted by a set of tasty mezzes, and without meat. Pleasant atmosphere and warm service.

It's the kind of tavern that you love with avenant staff and a kitchen where you can take a look. Here, we recommend the safe and safe values of the island: grilled fish and octopus salad. And the staff is generous: at every commandé ordered, you usually offer a small mezze…

Take a bit of height: here the veranda seems suspended in the sky! This tavern is warmly recommended by the inhabitants of the island, for its dishes and its view of Skopelos. On the menu: excellent taramokeftedes (fish boulettes) and chortopita chortopita (laminated to herbs). Fine wine list also.

Go to the veranda of the Mandraki Hotel, up an elegant wooden staircase, to taste the menu designed by Sophia Chatzieleftheriou, renowned defector of the Beau Brumell in Athens. Note the partly vegetarian offer with a mushroom risotto, a fava with poached egg, a zucchini velouté with homemade ketchup or the succulent moussaka revisited with lentils... Otherwise, fish, meat and homemade pasta. We also like its locavore commitment: the establishment supports local farmers and offers a small grocery corner.

It's not the most comfortable, nor the prettiest, nor even the most central establishment in Glossa, but the little Pergola canteen is renowned throughout the island for its delicious souvlaki and gyros. We sit under the pergola or inside on the plastic chairs, with the locals who come to throw some skewers in the belly before continuing their day. The location on the road is not made to give envy but what counts in the end, it is what you have in the plate. And for a more beautiful view, take away!

Located on a plateau between Panormos and Agnontas, this young and dynamic initiative was born in recent years. Tasty street food, to be tasted on picnic tables happily set up near a mini-farm where you can meet some animals (the little ones will enjoy it!). In the plate, you will find flavors from elsewhere, perfectly prepared. Ideal for a small light snack, which does not want to compromise anything in terms of taste and quality.

This restaurant is an upscale option in the old town of Alonissos. Located in the most authentic and charming part of the village, it offers creative and tasty cuisine, a change from the more classic taverns usually found on the islands. Here, the chef honors some of the best products of the Aegean islands, starting with the famous tuna of Alonissos. Another undeniable asset is the view of the Aegean Sea from the terrace, which you wouldn't suspect from the outside. Reservations are required in season.

Open your taste buds wide, you're in for a treat. To begin with, you have to choose between sitting in an old grocery store, with a lush decoration made of luminous colanders, lanterns, jam jars and vintage cans, and the annex set up just across the street in a sort of barnum on stilts. In any case, you can eat very well for cheap: shrimps sagnaki, tarama, tuna rillettes, everything is to fall. Very good white wine also with the Antithessi produced in the Parissi winery, the best vineyard of the island.

Small and nice pizzeria with a view of the port that makes a nice change from the usual Greek cuisine. The specialty of the house is the pizza vesuviana with spicy salami, onions and mozarella, but we preferred to opt for a garlic bread with cheese, succulent tagliatelle with salmon and especially for a mushroom risotto with parmesan and porcini powder to fall on the ground. Not forgetting the little tiramisu that goes well to finish. The whole went very well with the small dry white wine of Corinth of the owner, we enjoyed ourselves.

It is difficult to eat (and sit down) at a table at a very low price at Skiathos, except here. Going up rue Papadamantis from the port, we stray slightly into a less busy alley on the left to land in this small "nameless" shop since 1992. Not great gastronomy but, here, honest and well-made gyros and souvlaki that can be eaten on one of the red, yellow or blue tables. You can also take your sandwich and sit on a bench. Quieter, more pleasant and economical too.

The tiny jetty of Kalamakia is a well kept secret: there are a handful of rooms for rent, and a few fish taverns that are stocked every day by the fishermen's caiques that anchor there. There is also a café, and small stretches of beach where the sea is not very pleasant. It is necessary to come in the evening when the place comes to life in an absolute calm. The three taverns are similar, but Maina has our preference especially for the fish mezzes that accompany the ouzo and the generous portions.

This restaurant is located on the rooftop terrace of the Ammos Hotel: it has the same perfect taste for simplicity and chic. The terrace is open to all, hotel guests or not. It is also possible to come and have a glass of aperitif: the wine list is very successful. For dinner, share several small tasty dishes for which the chef has the key. Here, we find ingredients from Skyros, prepared with creativity. The service is adorable, attentive to the needs of a truly tasty experience, on all levels.

A warm welcome and a bucolic and intimate setting... What more could you ask for? The place really deserves to be asked for directions when going up the narrow streets of the port. You arrive in a quiet garden around a well and a superb lemon tree. We eat in an interior courtyard decorated with great elegance. On the table, a tapenade with black olives and toasted bread, already. The chef then offers grilled meats, his pork with plums from the garden or the traditional Skopelos pie. Beautiful Greek hospitality and waiters to the small care.

The Korali restaurant has evolved from a simple fish tavern to a somewhat chic and upscale address. The large terrace and the buildings play the card of the purity for an elegant and sober rendering, which is not unpleasant. The specialty of the place remains the sea products: beyond the fresh fish (check the weight of the animal and the price per kilo before ordering), you can opt for delicious spaghetti, orzo or risotto with delicious seafood. The flavors are delicate, ideal for a romantic dinner on the beach.

If Korali is the chic version of the fish restaurant, the Mouria tavern is the traditional and warm version. The tables are set up directly on the beach - sometimes precariously balanced on the pebbles, beware! - near a beautiful mulberry tree that gives its name to the place. The fish is always fresh, and there is something for every budget. As always, choose your fish in the window and confirm the price before ordering to avoid unpleasant surprises when you pay. The service is lovely and the food tasty.

On the beach of Koukounaries, 50 metres from the sea, this small traditional and family tavern offers honorable moussakas and Greek salads. Very good service.

We love this fish tavern in its juice, with its vintage room and verandah. The place is incredible with terraces overlooking the sea in the middle of geranium pots. Fish mezzes and tasty Sporades and Dodecanese dishes are served. Try the kid with red sauce or stuffed squids. For the anecdote, the name of the tavern evokes diving and the island of Kalymnos: it is on this other island that George and Aphrodite met 30 years ago. There are still some flavours and recipes of Kalymnos on the menu....

A family tavern run by Christos Kaloyiannis and one of the few places in Skiathos where you can still enjoy good traditional dishes such as fish with tomato casserole or lobster with zucchini in tomato sauce. It is a vintage jewel, beautifully located at the end of Megali Ammos beach with a verandah overlooking the islet of Tsougria. We also love the homemade tarama with mushrooms and garlic, scallops stuffed with spinach and seafood spaghetti. And of course, the vegetables are from the garden.
