Discover les Iles septentrionales de la mer Egée

Close to the coasts of Asia Minor, the islands located in the northern Aegean Sea are in an area traditionally sensitive to tensions between Greece and Turkey. This region has been inhabited since Neolithic times and has experienced a great economic and cultural boom throughout antiquity, taking advantage of its strategic position as a crossroads on the Mediterranean sea routes. Thereafter, invaders and pirates of all kinds have made life difficult for the inhabitants of these islands, whose attachment to Greece dates only from 1912-13. This vast group is only gradually opening up to tourism and is still largely preserved. Some islands like Skiathos in the Sporades or Samos are already very visited: the Northern Europeans are the most numerous to stay in these islands. But the other islands of the North Aegean are still to be discovered and some of them are still really off the beaten track.
