In Anafi, on September 8, the feast of Panaghia Kalamiotissa is celebrated with meat with macaroni for everyone. Some of the faithful even arrive by caïque from Santorini. The pilgrims come with fishing boats for a big festival with the sounds of bagpipes, clarinet, violin, lute, singing and dancing. The monastery is built on the ruins of the ancient temple of Apollo on the mountain of Kalamos. The site was a medieval observatory and the view is impressive.
